Do you have experience providing technical support for web hosting? Want to work from anywhere? microsafi has a position for you!

We are seeking a technical customer support representative for our hosting business. This is a part-time, work from home position. Applicants should be dedicated, self motivated and knowledgeable. We are seeking 2-6 hours of customer support on a daily basis in the form of answering tickets, live chat, assisting customers with basic hosting needs and assigned duties.

Job Description:

  • Provide prompt support via tickets or live chat.
  • 2-6 hours daily, preferably splitting the time for mornings and evenings.
  • Troubleshooting a variety of technical and non-technical issues customers are having with their web hosting plans and services.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient using cPanel, WHM, FTP, domain and email management and other hosting related tasks.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
  • Outstanding customer service skills in any situation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot a variety of hosting issues.
  • Experience with documenting procedures.
  • Ideally a couple years experience with hosting support or management.
  • Strong knowledge of using Parallels Plesk in a multi-server environment.
  • In depth knowledge of both Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Excellent understanding of DNS, SMTP, IMAP, POP, and HTML
  • Ability to write and debug PHP, Perl, ASP, Powershell and SQL
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL Server and MySQL Server
  • Ability to maintain and implement a backup/disaster plan within a hosting environment.
  • Excellent understanding of network technologies in both IPv4 and IPv6; DSL technology; DOCSIS2 and DOCSIS3 cable networks.
  • Expert knowledge of networking using both IPv4 and IPv6

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining current hosting environment in both a Linux and Windows environment.
  • Providing support for customer hosting specific issues including debugging customer sites to aid in problem resolution as well as customer initial setup of sites.
  • Ensuring servers are kept up to date and free of potential exploits.
  • Setup and deployment of new hosting servers.
  • Maintaining a highly available environment to minimize interruption to customers.
  • Researching competitive product offerings and recommending changes to existing products or new additions.
  • Performing DNS transfers and setup on behalf of customers as well as troubleshooting DNS issues.
  • Ensuring customer data is protected.
  • Monitoring the health of the entire hosting environment.
  • Troubleshooting advanced customer networking; connectivity issues; VoIP connectivity and quality of service and customer facing email issues.
  • Assisting in maintaining internal corporate systems including corporate email, messaging, websites, SQL Servers, Share point farm, and call center phone system.
  • Assisting in maintaining Server based hardware and iSCSI SAN.
  • Maintaining monitoring system to detect faults or resource outages for all systems.
